Business Objects (NASDAQ:BOBJ) (Euronext Paris ISIN code: FR0004026250 - BOB), the world's leading provider of business intelligence (BI) solutions, today announced the company has won a 2006 VARBusiness Technology Innovator Award for BusinessObjects XI Release 2 in the Enterprise Business Software category. In addition, Crystal Vision Server XI was the runner-up in the SMB (small to medium sized business) Business Software Category. The awards were formally presented last week in Huntington Beach, Calif., at the CMP XChange Tech Innovators Conference.
The VARBusiness Technology Innovator Awards honor the most innovative solutions in 13 categories from business software to storage and security. More than 700 products were submitted for consideration, and the finalists were judged by a panel of solution-provider executives and VARBusiness editors. The judges scored the products based on five main points: usefulness, product innovation or improvement, price to performance ratio, revenue potential for value-added resellers, and its "coolness" factor.
"In the technology world, innovation is about refreshing old technologies to maintain relevancy, bringing new ideas to the forefront, and piecing together building blocks to create new systems," said Lawrence M. Walsh, editor of VARBusiness. "The VARBusiness Technology Innovator Awards are given to vendors that push the envelope, building new products that solution providers can use to create systems, find new opportunities, and generate revenue."
BusinessObjects XI Release 2 features several enhancements and new capabilities that deliver improved simplicity for end users, access to trusted information, and the ability standardize on a single BI platform. Crystal Vision Server XI, one of VARBusiness Magazine's Mid-Market Products of the Year, gives small to medium-sized companies everything they need to create sophisticated business reports and dashboards, and easily deliver and manage them via Microsoft Office and the Web.
"Innovation is one or our core values at Business Objects," said Herve Couturier, senior vice president of products at Business Objects. "Receiving a VARBusiness Technology Innovator Award is a great accomplishment and is further confirmation that Business Objects continues to deliver on its rich history of innovation. We continue to update BusinessObjects XI Release 2 to broaden the scope and reach of our BI platform, and enable organizations to give users simplified access to the trusted information they need to run their business effectively."
